چکیده

Crystal violet is a triphenylmethane dye which is commonly used in the clothing industry to dye wool, silk and cotton (Kim et al., 2005).While knowledge of the genes and enzymes involved in the biodegradation of this dye is restricted; the mechanistic pathway of its break down is well understood. Yatome and colleagues (1993) were the first to elucidate the degradation of crystal violet by Nocardia sp., identifying the main product as Michler s ketone. Chen and coworkers (2007) were able to elucidate the biodegradation pathway of crystal violet by Pseudomonas putida and concluded that the dye is broken down by demethylation. Similarly, Kumar and colleagues (2011) found that Aspergillus sp. decolorized methyl violet using the same mechanism.Jang and colleagues (2005) were the first to report on the cloning of a triphenylmethane reductase gene (TMR) isolated from the Gram negative Citrobacter sp. KCTC 18061P.The sequence did not show similarity to proteins of known functions hence they proposed that ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 2 Number 6 (2013) pp. 41-56 http://www.ijcmas.com

IncP-1-beta plasmid pGNB1 isolated from a bacterial community from a wastewater treatment plant mediates decolorization of triphenylmethane dyes.

Plasmid pGNB1 was isolated from bacteria residing in the activated sludge compartment of a wastewater treatment plant by using a transformation-based approach. This 60-kb plasmid confers resistance to the triphenylmethane dye crystal violet and enables its host bacterium to decolorize crystal violet. Partial sequencing of pGNB1 revealed that its backbone is very similar to that of previously se...

IncP-1β plasmids of Comamonas sp. and Delftia sp. strains isolated from a wastewater treatment plant mediate resistance to and decolorization of the triphenylmethane dye crystal violet.

The application of toxic triphenylmethane dyes such as crystal violet (CV) in various industrial processes leads to large amounts of dye-contaminated sludges that need to be detoxified. Specific bacteria residing in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are able to degrade triphenylmethane dyes. The objective of this work was to gain insights into the genetic background of bacterial strains capab...

Decolorization of azo, triphenylmethane and anthraquinone dyes by a newly isolated Trametes sp. SQ01 and its laccase

A white-rot fungus, strain SQ01, was isolated from decayed wood in a temperate forest. The strain was identified as a member of genus Trametes, based on the morphological characteristics and a complete sequence analysis of its 18S rRNA gene and ITS region. Strain SQ01 was capable of decolorizing a variety of synthetic dyes, including azo, triphenylmethane, and anthraquinone dyes, with an optima...

Treatment of a Textile Effluent from Dyeing with Cochineal Extracts Using Trametes versicolor Fungus

Trametes versicolor (Tv) fungus can degrade synthetic dyes that contain azo groups, anthraquinone, triphenylmethane polymers, and heterocyclic groups. However, no references have been found related to the degradation of natural dyes, such as the carminic acid that is contained in the cochineal extract. Experiments to determine the decolorization of the effluent used in the cotton dyeing process...

Microsatellite Analysis for Differentiation and Identification of the Source Tree of Fagus orientalis Lipsky

The present study describes approaches for the identification of individual beech trees using maternal tissues from their seeds or fruits. Four microsatellite markers were used for genetic analysis of seedlots from Fagus orientalis Lipsky, a highly out-crossing tree species. Seeds from 11 single-tree harvests belonging to one population, (7 seeds from each), as well as non-paranchymatic materna...
